This program celebrates the contribution of female composers to the canon of western art music. From Amy Beach in the late 1800s to Libby Larsen in the early 2000s, women are still having to fight for their voices to be heard. The four composers included on the upcoming album “Breaking Glass Ceilings: Music by Unruly Women” each carved their own path and in doing, paved the way for those that came after her. Amy Beach, Rebecca Clarke, Florence Price, and Libby Larsen each offer their charming, poignant, and groundbreaking music to this program celebrating over a century of progress.
